Many years ago, while walking on the Romney Marsh we discovered an old shepherd's hut abandoned and unloved on a farm. We managed to buy the hut from the farmer and Julian set about its restoration. This led us to search for other huts to restore , often travelling many miles to bring back a wreck on a trailer or even just a set of wheels and axles - whatever we could find!
We now build huts true to their 19th century designs using as many original parts as possible.
Built from the perspective of an antiques and architectural dealer, Julian has a passion for getting the proportion and style true to the original huts that graced the fields in the 1800's and early 1900's.
Having been lucky enough to find a set of original plans from a company building huts in the late 1800's, we build the axles to original designs using locally sourced green oak.
The reclaimed wheels, reclaimed floorboards and old timber for the drop leaf table , all add character and charm to the huts.

Our larger huts incorporate a shower room and kitchen. This one has a two burner ceramic hob , butler sink and mini fridge, perfect for guests or B&B or holiday letting. It has a full size shower with luxury shower fittings and toilet. There is comfortable seating and a table which convert to a full 5 feet bed.
Using reclaimed doors and floorboards give the interiors a warmth and character as well as being practical and hard wearing. With all round insulation and a cosy wood burner our huts are usable all year . Many of our customers who use their huts for holiday letting report that they are busy throughout the year. The only downside is that they have to provide lots of logs for these romantic retreats!
